COSTA MESA, Calif.
COSTA MESA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As part of its ongoing commitment to provide volunteer and financial support to charitable organizations that are making a positive impact on their communities, CareCredit employee volunteers participated in Junior Achievement (JA) of Orange County’s JA in a Day event. More than 345 students from 13 kindergarten and first-grade classes took part in the financial literacy education sessions.
Through the CareCredit Caring Communities program, employees participated for the third year in the JA in a Day event in December at Jackson Elementary School in Santa Ana, Calif. The program brought together more than 45 employee volunteers from CareCredit and Synchrony Financial. Students explored age-appropriate themes, including the value of working, earning and saving, the roles people play in local economies, interdependent roles of workers in a community, and skills people need for specific careers.
“It was an incredible experience watching our students engage in hands-on lessons with the enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers,” said John Dickinson, a teacher at Jackson Elementary School. “I was really impressed with the level of retention they exhibited for this very important curriculum.”
The volunteers spent hours preparing lesson plans, provided by JA, to teach an age-appropriate curriculum that adheres to the California Content Standards. The event was provided at no cost to either the school or students.
“The CareCredit Caring Communities program enables us to provide grants to the healthcare professions we serve, as well as gives our employees meaningful opportunities to volunteer for great events such as JA in a Day,” said Dave Fasoli, executive vice president and CEO of CareCredit. “We were thrilled to continue our involvement and offer our support.”
